Esther Wratschko is working on her debut album Fli, mayn foygl, a conceptual work exploring separation, the search for identity, and liberation from self-imposed chains. Deeply rooted in the Yiddish song tradition, she works with Yiddish poetics, newly composed pieces, the women’s tradition of unaccompanied Yiddish song, as well as theatre songs from the Lower East Side, combining the personal with sensitive lyricism and innovative soundscapes.
With voice, piano, and synthesizer, and in collaboration with Fabian Pollack (guitar), Benjy Fox-Rosen (double bass), Lili Weinhandl (cello), and David Schweighart (drums), she creates a musical web in which the past and the new merge. Tradition and modernity enter into a compelling dialogue, offering deep insights into the soul of an artist who explores boundaries and redefines her own voice.
The album will be released on Bandcamp on 30 October 2026 and will be presented at the Radiokulturhaus on 10 November 2026 at 7:30 pm — tickets for the release show are available here!
